The Phoenician Golf Club
After a ten-month renovation, The Phoenician Golf Club reopened on November 1, 2018 debuting a brand-new course, designed by Golf Course Architect Phil Smith. The iconic course previously featured three, 9-hole offerings, each with a different profile, creating 27 separate holes of play. Now, the course will offer one, 18-hole experience with a natural rhythm and flow. During the redesign, no hole went untouched, utilizing existing fairway corridors in the rerouting of the course.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.
Tuscaloosa. Nestled on the banks of the Black Warrior River, in the Northwest Region of Alabama, it's a city ready to fulfill your senses. Beautiful sights, inviting smells, rockin' sounds, delicious tastes, and a southern touch, Tuscaloosa is home to 95,000 people who work, play, live, and thrive here in West Alabama. But what most people don't know, is Tuscaloosa is a city full of stories waiting to be told. There are stories of Southern history, stories of Southern hospitality, and stories of Southern living. Some are still writing their stories, and some stories became legends. Adventure writes a story for you, and exploration turns curiosity into a story. Some want to create their story, and others want to perform their story. But sometimes, you want others to hear your story. Whatever it is, find your story in Tuscaloosa.
Christmas Village Festival | "A Birmingham Tradition"
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
Merry Christmas!
Birmingham is spreading holiday cheer a little early this year…bringing in the Christmas spirit with this annual event. It’s the Christmas Village Festival and this year is the 34th year it’s decked the halls at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center. Shoppers can find delicious treats for their families and the perfect handcrafted knick knacks for the holiday season.
Pam Montgomery, CVF Vendor “Well you have to start with cleaning them first, they have to get all the mold off, so leave them out in the rain, then scrub all the mold off with dishwashing, like one of those stainless steal scouring pads.”
After this process, Pam Montgomery is ready to transform gourds into beautiful holiday decorations. She’s painted holiday gourds for 10 years…and started selling them at the Christmas Village Festival about five years ago. She says this festival is now a tradition for her and her gourds.
Pam Montgomery, CVF Vendor “Yes, It’s just wonderful, I mean, it is. I have repeat customers that come back and they’re so glad I’m here with my gourds and I’m glad to be here too.”
Hayley Burns, “The Christmas Village Festival is a fun tradition for shoppers and vendors alike, but one vendor here is selling items like these and reinforcing the true meaning of the holiday season…which is the season of giving.”
Johnnie Davis, Bethel Baptist Church “I am so blessed in being able to do this and to spend my time and preparing for Christmas Village and preparing to raise the money.”
Just like Pam, this group of vendors uses the Christmas Village Festival as an annual event to spread Christmas cheer. Their mission group sells yummy treats and festive decor to raise money to purchase supplies and food for a village in Nicaragua. Each year, the mission group travels to the village and delivers the goods in person.
Johnnie Davis, Bethel Baptist Church “Giving of yourself is the most important, you know volunteering for different charity organizations is good.”
Last year, this mission group gave 6 tons of beans and rice, 2800 bibles, 300 eyeglasses, 20,000 prescriptions, and medical/dental services to the village.
Jimmie “Sarge” Montgomery, Bethel Baptist Church “You know, you get that warm, fuzzy feeling, hair stands up on the back of your neck, and it’s just very rewarding for me.”
This year, they hope to raise even more money than last year to help the people of Nicaragua. Through this mission group, anyone who buys a sweet treat or a cheerful ornament will be getting a head start on their shopping and the season of giving.
Listen In!
Christmas Village Festival Show Promoter Lisa Fullilove shares how dedicated shoppers are every year. Countless attendees go the extra mile to enjoy this experience.
Johnnie Davis of Bethel Baptist Church shares her opinion on the true meaning of Christmas.

Ornaments were a dime a dozen at the Christmas Village Festival this year. Styles ranged from tacky to elegant and from trendy to traditional.

Vendors at the Christmas Village Festival sold festive home decor like these winter themed candles. Shoppers loved finding the perfect holiday items to make their homes feel cozy for this upcoming season.

The Brayden House | "Helping Babies in the NICU"
My team and I worked with this local non-profit organization to revamp and modernize their multimedia. Upon our initial meeting with the Co-Founder, James Hudson, we found that The Brayden House wanted more exposure to the community, to raise awareness about what they do as an organization, and recruit volunteers/donations to aid in their cause. Thus, we created a new website and social media accounts for the Brayden House, containing creative, unique content to captivate viewers and achieve their goals. Below is our New Media Marketing Plan for the Brayden House, as well as the new multimedia we created.

Philanthropy. What does that mean to you? The Alpha Phi Foundation supports cardiac care and cardiac research to keep women's hearts healthy. During formal recruitment at the University of Alabama, one day is dedicated to telling potential new members about each sorority's philanthropy. Alpha Phi's philanthropy is women's cardiac care/heart health.
